Alfa Kimya is a company established in 1981 to meet demands of paint and varnish manufacturers by producing alkyd resin. By 2000, the facility adjusted itself to changing circumstances and decided to invest to enlarge the production unit. Up to that year, the company was located in Kagithane. In 2001, the firm moved to its own plant in Tuzla in an organized area for coating industry. Together with its new and modern construction, first the capacity of the facility was increased to 3,500 tons/year, then to 10,000 tons/year and finally, the capacity of the company became 20,000 tons of alkyd resin per year. As the years passes, the alkyd resin market became larger but the total alkyd resin production capacity of Turkey remained constant. To use this opportunity, a need for a larger production unit was emerged. So, together with the summer of 2008, construction of new facility plant near the existing one is finished. Now Alfa Kimya produces 40,000 tons alkyd resin in a year, in 6,000 m² closed area in 11,100 total company area and has a storage area of 1,050 m². Also, to be ready for the future demands of alkyd resin market, infrastructure of an extra 50% capacity is completed.

Like every year, in 2008, new products are added into Alfa Kimya’s products catalogue. Although there are more than 50 alkyd resin formulations working, the company continues to enlarge the number of products. The firm also serves the customers with specific alkyd resin solutions tailored to their needs and engaged in collaborative R&D activities. As a result of recognizing the customer desires and evaluation of new modifications and technologies, new alkyd formulations continues to be developed and existing formulations are revised in R&D laboratory to produce high performance alkyd resin binders in the quality specifications defined by the market and customers.
